1/03/08 | A.K.A.C.O.D. IN DA HOUSE! Happy New Year! We are delighted to be entering the new year with very a special show at the Tritone, opening up for a.k.a.c.o.d., the new band featuring Dana Colley from Morphine on saxophone. Word is there will be a piece on the show in this Sunday's Philly Inquirer so keep your eyes peeled.


11/08/07 | PROVIDENCE CORRECTION Hi folks! There's been a slight upgrade to our show in Providence RI on Sat. Nov. 10th. it's been moved to The Liberty Elm Diner at 777 Elmwood Ave. The show is still part of the Your Roots Are Showing series hosted by Lucky 57 and featuring The Black (Austin, TX) and Earl Pickens (Lewisburg, PA). We've also added a return show for Fergies Pub in Philly on Dec. 1. See you there!


7/13/07 | GRUBSTAKIN' ALL NIGHT FOR FREE We are delighted to announce we will be playing Fergies Pub in Philly on Wed. July 25. We’ll be joined by special guest Josh from Saudi Arabia (the band), and we’ll be playing all night long. Also, The new issue of CHORD Magazine is out and their review of The Bestest is down right silly good. Read it here.


5/25/07 | RADIO, REVIEW AND NEW SHOWS All of you out there in radioland take note: the new Grubstake CD is getting amazing airplay on XM Satellite's XMU Station. Go their website and request "Recession Blues 2001," "Y I Hate Musicians" & "Albequerque" now! We had sooo much fun in Boston last month, we're coming up to do it again! This time we'll be rippin' the roof off of The Basement. So come on out and see us. Check out some other shows around Philly in the meantime.


3/30/07 | MORE GIGS & MYSPACE Grubstake is returning to Boston & NYC in April with shows at PA's Lounge on April 14th w/ our good friends The In/Out and Club Midway on April 15th. 2/7/07 | NEW CD! We are pleased to announce that Grubstake's new full-length CD The Bestest,is finished and will be released locally in Philadelphia on March 10 at The Tritone. We're still not sure who will be joining us for this auspicious evening, but it promises to be pretty damn fun. For you out-of-towners, we'll make the new CD available online as soon as possible. Look for it on iTUNES and other download sites in April.


10/27/06 | Grubstake in da House Grubstake will be playing a very special houseparty on Sat. Nov. 4th in Philadelphia with new beatmaster Steve B. The new album, The Bestest, is in the final stages of production and will be available for public consumption this winter. Preview some of the new recordings at Grubstake's MySpace page.


6/23/06 | Deja Vu the new Grubstake CD tentatively titled The Bestest should be out in Winter 2006/2007. We've finished tracking at Darron Burke's Makeshift Studio in Boston, and are mixing away. The CD is a retrospective and will contain all newly recorded versions of Grubstake favorites from the past 6 years. Grubstake will also be playing at Trash Bar in Brooklyn, NY on Sunday, July 16 at 8pm. See the Live page for more details.


3/1/06 | Big Spring Things The original Grubstake duo of Pat McHugh and rocket1000 will be headed back into the studio in April to begin work on a new CD! We'll be test-driving the new home studio of mad scientist Darron Burke up in Boston-town. To celebrate (and warm up) the band will be playing at The Fire in Philly on April 8th, the Trash Bar,in Brooklyn, NY on April 9th where, for the low cost of admission, you can drink free from 9-10pm! 10/15/05 | Back into The Fire Hi all, Grubstake is happy to announce we'll be playing at The Fire again in Philly, on Friday Nov. 4th. A few special guests will be joining us for our set, and founding drummer Mr. Rocket 1000 will be returning from the far off land of New England! We're going on 2nd at 10pm and also on the bill are our friends the Builders, who will rock your socks off. Hope to see you there.


8/17/05 | Back in the Saddle Hi there, Grubstake here, getting ready to start hitting the stage again after a spring-time hiatus. We'll be playing the Continental in NYC on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend, Sept. 4th. This is an early show, at 8pm, and it's free also. 1/29/05 | Grubstake on Tour The lean n' mean Grubstake duo takes off across the Northeast in mid February for an 8 date tour of seedy bars and cozy pubs in support of the national release of Dynamite & Other Inventions. See the live page for more details.


12/04/04 | P.W. McHugh, makes his Philly area debut on Fri. Dec. 10 with a mostly-acoustic show at The Point, one of the area’s most esteemed performance venues. There are 2 shows, at 7pm and 10pm, and Wise & Foolish Builders are headlining both sets..


10/10/04 | The new album, Dynamite and Other Inventions, is now available online and in stores. Grubstake's 3rd, this disk sees the band mixing some primitive folk into the swamp rock fuzz, featuring more songs about zombies, insomnia, and the new world order. Plus rockin' kazoos! 8/10/04 | We are happy to announce that the CD release show for our new album Dynamite & Other Inventions will be Friday, August 20 at the Middle East Upstairs. We will be playing with Caged Heat, The Pickups and Sand Machine.


5/24/04 | We'll be playing an ass-whooping rock show this Thurs, May 27, with our good friends, Gone Baby Gone, who have a residency this month at the Abbey Lounge. This will in all likelihood be the last time we smash up the Abbey before Pat heads south to Pennsyltucky in Sept., and we plan to leave a permanent impression. We're going on at 9:30pm. The Abbey is located at 3 Beacon St. on the Camridge/Somerville line in Inman Sq. In other news, we are awaiting the return of our brand new Dynamite and Other Inventions, and we're planning the cd release for later this summer, so stick around!


4/05/04 | Grubstake will be playing at the Asgard in Central Sq., Cambridge on Sat. May 15th as part of the Weekly Dig's ongoing series of americana and roots music. The set will feature selections from the upcoming new album, Dynamite & Other Inventions, as well as songs from our previous albums and a few covers for good measure. The show is FREE and begins at 10 PM.


4/11/04 | Members of Grubstake will be performing in the Hillbilly Jukebox, Sat. April 24 at P.J. Ryan's pub in Teele Sq./Davis Sq. (T-red line stop) Show at 10 pm and is FREE


3/22/04 | Grubstake will be playing a FREE lean ‘n’ mean 2-piece rock set this Sat. March 27 at P.J. Ryan's pub in Teele Sq./Davis Sq., going on at 9:30 and followed by the Diamond Hearts. This will be our last show for a little while (taking a break after this busy month). PJ Ryan’s is a quick walk up Holland St. from the Davis Sq. station on the Red Line.


3/15/04 | Pat McHugh will be performing an early solo show on Mon. March 22at 7:30 to 8:30 for FREE, as part of the Lizard Lounge "Soul Low" series--this will be an intimate setting in (frankly) one of the area's very coolest bars.


2/26/04 | We are extremely happy to announce that Grubstake will be joining local Kim Chee Records recording artists 27 , as well as Super Hopper (from MN) and the Common Cold , Upstairs at the Middle East on Friday March 12th. Grubstake will be performing as a specially expanded “Big Band” quintet for this engagement, playing favorites from their past two albums as well debuting material from the upcoming release “Dynamite & Other Inventions”.


2/05/04 | Grubstake will be initiating a monthly residency at PJ Ryan’s Pub in Davis Sq./Teele Sq. on Sat. Feb 14th, bringing their unique brand of punk-powered roots rock to Somerville’s coziest Irish pub.


1/20/04 | Our next show is the end of this month, on Fri. Jan. 30th at the Choppin' Block Pub with local heavy hitters Black Helicopter. We will be performing as our werewolf-ish alter-ego which calls itself The Grubbys, performing all your favorites with a slightly more juiced-up approach.

The Choppin Block is located at 724 Huntington Ave. in the middle of Brigham’s Circle T-stop on the Green line (“E” Line), 2 blocks up Huntington Ave. from the MFA. If you come, you will be rocked.


1/10/04 | Grubstake will be performing Sat. Jan 17 at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge, with Seks Bomba. Shows starts at 9pm.


11/13/03 | Grubstake will be playing at PJ Ryan's Irish pub on Sat. Nov. 22, returning to our roots of setting up shop & playing all damn night long for free! PJ Ryan's is in Teele Sq./Davis Sq. and features delicious food & beers.

Pat McHugh is playing a special solo set at Harper's Ferry on Wed. 11/19 at 9pm sharp, opening up on a bill that is a benifit for the Rock & Roll Library (www.rocklibrary.com), also featuing the Medea Connection and others ($8).


11/05/03 | Grubstake's nasty 2nd cuz, the Grubbys, will be setting fire to PA's Lounge in Union Square (Somerville, of course!) this Friday, November 7th. Also rocking with us that night will be Gone Baby Gone.


10/20/03 | There a number of dope shows coming up in the near future, including a Halloween extravaganza in Providence w/ the FID's & Bus27 Film, and a last minute add-on at the Abbey Lounge this Saturday night!

The new album is coming along nicely, and should be done by New Years; in the meantime Grubstake is appearing on 2 new compilations -- Coffeestain Music (www.coffeestainmusic.com) has a giveaway available in Boston area record shops RIGHT NOW, and Recession Blues 2001 is featured on the upcoming TRAKTOR7/FightForRock compilation "Theft, Arson, Vice, Murder, and Death", with the cd release show/party at the Middle East on Nov. 8 (see the Live page). 9/17/03 | GONE RECORDIN'! Grubstake is taking a break from live performances in order to finish recording our 3rd disk. We will be returning to the stage on Halloween for a very special show with the FID's in Providence, RI.
